February

Pros: Silver suite was great. People were the best we have ever encountered.

Cons: 14 nights in which you had to wear a jacket 11 nights. Ridiculous

Recommended: Yes

Was told there was no formal nights turned out there was 3 plus 8 nights they call informal which requires a jacket.

Luxury @ Sea on the Silver Muse

December

Pros: Butlers in every cabin, several small restaurants and included shore excursions

Cons: Restaurants opened between 7 - 8pm

Recommended: No

With a staff to guest ratio of nearly 1:1, the service level is outstanding.  The butlers were very involved and handled every need as well as all of the 24 hr room service and food delivery.  Room service includes everything from caviar to pizza!  The butler stocks the refrigerator with all of your favorite beverages and water, leaving the stateroom attendant to concentrate on making your cabin perfect every day.  Room service is also available on the day of disembarkation.

The cabins are spacious and nicely appointed.  Included are high quality robes and towels and Bvlgari toiletries.

The ship is beautiful and offered several small dining options.  The food in all of the restaurants were excellent with the exception of La Dame ($60/pp). Kaiseki, the Japanize restaurant, is free for lunch and $60/pp at dinner.  There is no charge for any of the other restaurants. The Grill (Hot Rocks) restaurant is open air and set up around the pool.  Here you select your steak or seafood main coarse and cook it yourself on the hot stone placed in the middle of the table.  Two of our favorite restaurants were Indochine (Asian-fusion) and the Silver Note, which is small and has a jazz singer during dinner.  A couple of the restaurants had newer staff members who were learning the job, which caused some delays and confusion.  I was expecting La Dame to be the highlight and the best dining experience onboard, but unfortunately it was not.  Other guests mentioned disappointment with the food quality at La Dame.

Our cruise had several single travelers as Silversea had a nice promotion "no single supplements".  The spa prices seemed a little steep at first, however, the price includes all taxes and gratuities.  Shore excursions are included as well as premium beverages.  There were three formal nights on our 14 night cruise.

We had some very authentic shore excursion experiences and the winery tours were very good.  What was unique about the bus drivers, they were also the tour guide, and provided great information along the way to our destinations.  A couple of the excursion vendors were disorganized.  Headphones were not provided on any of the tours and in some cases the group size was large which made it difficult to hear and follow along.

While there were a couple of hiccups, this is an excellent cruise ship and one I will sail with again.

October

Pros: Excellent destination. Friendly and helpful staff. Well appointed rooms. Well run tours.

Cons: Food inconsistent, difficulty with dining reservations, lack of food options

Recommended: No

The ship is beautifully decorated and well maintained. Rooms were quite spacious with plenty of drawer space and sockets for charging.

Large number of bars and restaurants with very friendly staff. Unfortunately the menus were primarily the same each of 14 days with one or two changes some days and food inconsistent in preparation. Very difficult to get dining reservations but not difficult to get into the main restaurants that did not require reservations. Large room service menu.

Nice piano and guitar music pre and post dinner. Ship production shows well presented. Special Korean music performance was a highlight. Would have been nice to have more variety of shows. Good daily lectures and activities including bridge instruction and play.

In addition to tours there was shuttle bus service to the city center in each port, which was quite nice to be able to explore on our own.

Internet faster than most ships without interruption.

Overall a great trip just needed a few tweaks to food offerings.

Silversea Muse - 18 nights Vancouver to Tokyo

September

Pros: Excellent service. The food was exceptional. The entertainment was wonderful.

Cons:

Recommended: No

Embarkation was handled well. The suites were available at 4 p.m., but lunch was available as soon as boarding the ship at 2 pm. The food was excellent. The service, as always, was superior. The weather in Alaska in September was mild and sunny. The sea days were cooler than expected, but there were plenty of activities indoors. The cruise director, Jonathan, was energetic and a great showman. The staff were professional and polite.

Silver Muse August 24th-31st 2023

August

Pros: Staff, public areas and the amenities in the Suites............and the food and drink!!!!

Cons: I did hear that when wanting to book future cruise that the Future cruise desk was not available and missed a few appointments. This was disappointing and quite a few people then heard about it!

Recommended: No

This was a wonderful experience for our first time on Silverseas. The MUSE is a beautiful ship and we never felt crowded or waited in one single line! The organization and helpfulness of the staff was 6 star! The suites were lovely and had all the amenities needed and more! Love having a big tub and a roomy shower. The closet was bigger than our closet at home, plenty of hangers and drawers for our things and I especially liked that we could tuck our suitcases out of the way for the week. The dining options were spectacular and it made it hard to decide where to eat. Loved Atlantide and the menu choices were great. Jhune (with an H) was so fun and we saw her every day. Also, Joseph, the bartender in Atlantide felt like a dear friend by the time we got off the ship. Breakfast in La Terrazza was a lovely buffet and lots of choices. We loved Indochin and went there a couple of times. Silver note was a favorite, as you are finishing dinner it becomes a cool little jazz club and the entertainers are great. We enjoyed Kaiseki for sushi during lunch time and they do not charge an additional fee for lunch! The Grill was great for light lunch and dinner, choices are good and you can't beat the view!!! Again, the staff are wonderful at all the venues and make you feel like you are special. I can't end this review of dining options without mentioning how good the Pizza is at Spaccanapoli!! I think they are always open so good Pizza choices anytime overlooking the pool!! The folks at the Reception desk could not have been more helpful and very welcoming. Emily and Rosita were just delightful. I heard them talking with other guests and they were so nice to everyone and great problem solvers! We noticed that from the staff to the other guests we met, everyone Loves Silverseas and if this was their first cruise, they would return and the repeat guests just keep coming back! We will definately "come" back, already have plans for next year! This was an awesome way to visit Alaska! Oh, did I not mention the Shore excursions? They were very cool and educational and fun and a good time was had by all!

Inside Passage top to bottom

July

Pros: Whale watching

Cons: limited space on desirable excursions

Recommended: Yes

Would definitely recommend the Seward to Vancouver trip. Ending in Juneau then Seward might be a bit disappointing. We did not see many mammals roaming freely in Alaska, which might be a function of the time of the year and what excursions were available. Would recommend researching the topic more thoroughly outside of the excursion descriptions on the website. Did see humpback whales in a group bubble feeding, orcas breaching, and many bald eagles. The suites were nice, but there may have been staffing issues on our cruise. Dinner meals often took a long time, and room service was hit or miss - some orders were not delivered at all.
